Lincoln City, Oregon High 61 Low 56
Yesterday we left Sisters, Oregon and drove to the south end
of Lincoln City. We are staying at Chinook Bend RV Resort on the Siletz River
about 3 miles from the Ocean. We have stayed here twice in the past and while
calling it a “Resort” is kind of stretching it, but with 30 amp full hook ups it is
OK. The owner that checked us in remembered us and the staff are very
accommodating. The other times we have been here must have been later in the
year, because the Park is the fullest we have seen it. We were told it was
because Portland is so hot that lots of people are coming to the coast to enjoy
the cooler weather.
It is about 30 degrees cooler than in Sisters which made for
good sleeping. We haven’t had to run the Air Conditioning or heater, so we are
happy.
Today we drove south on Highway 101 to Depoe Bay and then to
Newport. Another difference we noticed this trip is way more traffic through
the three towns we drove through.
Cindy was able to get some pictures from one of the turnouts
along the Highway. There was a seagull standing on a post that let us get quite
close before Penny growled at it and it flew away.
There were sea lions swimming in the Ocean below us but I only got glimpses of their tails and we weren't able to get pictures.
While we were in Newport we tried to go to the fabric stores
we remembered from last time except now only one is still in business. The
sales person told us that they were the only fabric shop in Newport. Cindy got
the row by row pattern from this store and found another pattern she like that
was only $2.
This is the nicest Row-by-Row pattern we have found on this trip. |
We tried to take Penny to the beach so she could play for a
while, but we couldn’t find a parking space, so we might have to go earlier
tomorrow.
Thanks for visiting.
Sadly, several fabric stores have closed their doors since your last visit. My all time favorite in Tillamook is still open however. Newport is my Happy Place.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Scenery that gives us ideas for future travels.
