Happy New Year And Christmas Lights

Riverton, Utah       High 45 Low 25

It wasn't too bad in the sun today, but cool anywhere else.

Cindy an I aren't doing much tonight.  I hope there aren't too many fireworks because they terrify poor little Penny.

Cindy and I went for a ride and looked at some of the Christmas displays around the area. Most were to music which you could play on different FM radio stations which were shown on signs. There were lots of lights.

We plan on going south in a couple of days. I hope it is warmer.

Thanks for visiting.

Penny Got A Haircut and More Quilts

Riverton, Utah     High 49 Low 31

It is a little bit warmer today although cloudy.

Penny was getting shaggy but we wanted to wait until we were about ready to head south to get her hair cut. She finally got her grooming taken care of.

Before above, after below. She looks a lot better, but has been cold since her hair cut.

I have managed to get a few quilts finished since we have been here.

The next one is one I did for one of my customers.

The following quilt is one I have put off for a while. We decided that I might as well get it out of the way. It took me more than a week to quilt with all the flower petals.

Cindy said she liked the way it turned out.

Cindy wanted me to put some of the treasure hunt clues on the post: One said she sell sea shells; for Cindy's shell collection. One said where Mickey Mouse plays, meaning our Disney room. Where Mary Poppins fly's, For our movie room. Another was If you go into the woods today, and the rest of the Teddy Bears pick-nick poem, for the bear cave room. You walk and walk, but don't go anywhere, for the treadmill. Some of the clues were hard, some not too hard to figure out. All the kids and parents seemed to enjoy figuring them out.

Thanks for visiting.

Christmas Eve Brunch

Riverton, Utah         High 33 Low 17

It is another chilly day.

Cindy's Christmas cactus' are in bloom. She said it was the first time to see them for a few years.

We had most of the family over for Christmas Eve brunch. There  was way too much food for everyone, so lots of left overs.

After we ate the three great grandkids made paper wreaths, One of them was sick and didn't come because his dad said he didn't want anyone to get what he had.

After they were finished, we had a treasure hunt with the different families making up a team. The object was to find all the clues, some of which were fairly hard and finally get the prizes. Before we did the hunt, I read the Night Before Christmas to the Kids, while Cindy got the clues situated. We had already put the clues into little envelopes so she could get them ready easier. I have a cartoon glass collection in one of our cabinets and the clue said "I thought I Taw A Puddy Tat" Which was Tweety Bird. The had to figure out where Tweety Bird was and find the clue, which wasn't hidden.

The kids didn't want to pose for a picture. After I read the story, we got some family photos.

Then it was total pandemonium while they tried to figure out the clues and locations. Some of the clues were a lot harder than the Tweety Bird one. We think they all had a good time and Cindy, especially was glad to get most of her family together for Christmas. Most of the adults said they liked the treasure hunt.

Lastly, Cindy had rice pudding. Her long time tradition was to put a nut in one of the puddings, and whoever got the nut got to open a Christmas present. This time, she put a nut in each of the kids pudding, and they got a small present. They liked getting the present, the rice pudding, not so much. The oldest of the three is only 5, so not too big a surprise.

Merry Christmas

Riverton, Utah     High 40 Low 27

It is a little cool at night. This morning we woke up to a skiff of snow but it soon melted off.

My son Don and his wife and my grandkids came to visit us yesterday. I didn't think to get any pictures. They stayed for a while and we had a good visit. Both of my grandkids are in college, Sage in Tacoma, Washington and Micah in Texas. She says she will graduate this year, he has a while to go.

We are having a family get-together tomorrow. Cindy's kids, grandkids and great grandkids will be here. We have been hoping the weather would be okay and it looks like we are going to have a nice weather day.

Cindy has been busy cooking and getting ready for the brunch tomorrow. I have been trying out some pancake molds and while they work, they are a lot more work than just making pancakes.

We are hoping the small great grandkids enjoy the different shapes of pancakes.

I have also been busy quilting, but will wait until my next post to put the pictures on.

We hope every one has a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thanks for visiting.
