Was It Really Worth It?

The weather finally got cool and the weather guessers are predicting it will stay cool. We had rain off and on for three days, which helped us, but caused major flooding elsewhere in the state. Some cities got baseball size hail, which caused a lot of damage. We even had a tornado in the county north of us that tore up a lot of forest. 

I got a couple of quilts finished.

We got the grapes picked and juiced. It was a lot of work if you consider putting up the bird net, then picking, juicing, and another day taking down the bird net. All that for 10 1/2 quarts of juice (which is very good).

Was it really worth it? I'm not so sure!!

We went to another estate sale Thursday. Cindy found a cabinet with glass lift up doors for $40.00. After we got it home it didn't take her long to get it filled with fabric from some of her totes. She was glad to have found it.

Disappointment-------But!

It is still a little warm for the time of year, except it does cool off at night.

Thursday we went to an estate sale that listed fabric and it was nice fabric. Cindy started to load up until I noticed the price, $9.00 per yard. It all went back on the shelf. We did notice when people were checking out, the lady measured the fabric to the inch. We both thought the price was too high for an estate sale, when you could go to the fabric store for close to the same price if you got it on sale. Cindy was looking forward to the sale, but was very disappointed. 

After we got home, she looked at Facebook, and what do you know? Someone was getting rid of a bunch of fabric on Saturday. We got there about a half hour before the scheduled time And the prices were more than reasonable. Some kits from 15 to 25 dollars and fabric for about $1.50 per yard. Way more like it. Needless to say we bought a lot of what she was selling and had it loaded and paid for at about the time she was going to start.

All that and free project boxes. Cindy was really happy.

I finished the quilt I talked about, with the bad directions. 

 Some examples of bad directions, there are 20 blocks, but the directions said make 2 side borders and two boarders for top and bottom for the blocks, not the 40 required. And as we went on, the directions started to use one color of half square triangles, but had not had us make the 160 required and we didn't have any of the background fabric to make them and had to find matching fabric. But we got it made and quilted, so all is well.

Cindy got another quilt finished and I got it quilted.

Not Much Going On

It was a little warm this last week but the weather guessers are predicting a lot cooler tomorrow.

I only finished two quilts this last week, I was busy trying to finish one of Cindy's UFOs. It is a quilt kit we bought, maybe 10  years ago, and started but never finished. We didn't know why we didn't finish it, but it might be because the directions were awful. We finally got the main part finished and all that is left are two borders. I hope to get it quilted this coming week.

We went to two estate sale and I took pictures of all the people in line to go to the sale.

There were at least twice as many people behind us. We thought they we over priced and didn't buy much.
