It is still very hot, with no signs of letting up.

Today I want to talk about Cindy's garden. We put in all the 2 foot high planter boxes. We did put in potting soi at the top of them this spring. As a consequence, her garden has gone crazy. The tomato plants are huge. Also the squash, which we have already eaten some of, have almost got out of hand.

Sorry, the picture of the tape measure is not very good, but the plant I was measuring was 5 feet tall. and there are some about a foot higher, and this is from the top of the soil in the box. 

The onions are huge. 

Lots of green tomatoes.

In spite pf all the fruit getting frozen, we have a good crop of grapes and I will have to put up the bird net before too long or the birds will get them. 

Cindy's garden sure likes the good soil  and the boxes have really cut down on the weeding.

Really Hot

The last week has been way hotter than normal. The weather guessers are predicting a record high ever for Salt Lake City. As warm as it is outside, it probably is going to make it. Summer got here with a vengeance.  It has been a very unusual Spring and Summer. Right now my phone shows hotter here than in Yuma.

There was not much going on, other than quilts, so here are more quilt pictures.

About the only different thing that happened was Penny got a long overdue hair cut. She sure looks better. 

I almost forgot, we did Have two great-grand kids over to swim yesterday afternoon. I forgot to get pictures.They seemed to have fun and I hope they come again, a little sooner next time

Happy July Fourth

July got here and so did summer. It got hot here with the weather guessers predicting in the 100's next week.

During the week I repaired the bottom of the stucco on the posts of our gazebo. I had to use special caulk for the very bottom and then stucco patch for the discolored stucco.

Friday morning we went to an estate sale. We had only been there a short while, when all of a sudden, there were five police cars. It seems one of the neighbors, seeing all the people leaving with stuff, thought a burglary was in process and called the police. All was well, but we thought it was funny. 

Yesterday we went to Cindy's oldest daughter's, Stephanie, for a Fourth of July party. There were lot of kids and Stephanie had a bunch of one month old puppies. The kids had fun playing with them. Penny didn't like playing with them and seemed to say to me, "please get me out of here". She jumped  on my leg, and said, pick me up.

It's a little hard to tell, but there are four puppies steeping in this corner. there are seven total. Although they are only a month old, they weigh almost as much as Penny.

We were worried about people Setting off fireworks last night because Penny is very scared by all the boom going on, but at least anywhere by us, people honored the Governors mandate about not setting off fireworks because of the fire danger in the state. So far, about 350,000 acres have burned, and some of them are 0% contained. There have been lots of homes and cabins burned, some with no warning to the owners to save anything. There were some new fires yesterday caused by fireworks.
