There Is No Pot of Gold

Riverton, Utah              High 73 Low 42

We went from Winter to back to spring in three days. Two nights it got clear down to 29 degrees, which it looks like, froze all the fruit. Then today it warmed up. We even got the awful 4 letter word, snow, which soon melted off.

I forgot to tell about something that we saw on our way back to Riverton. As we got closer to Provo we hit a rain storm. It let up a little and we saw a double rainbow.

As we drove along, the rainbow seemed to get closer and closer. Pretty soon we seemed to be chasing the end of the rainbow. It didn't take too long and we seemed to see the end of it on the side of the road. Then I seemed to catch it and it looked like it was on the hood of the truck. From our experience, I can tell you, there is no Pot of Gold at the end of the rainbow. It still was pretty spectacular.

Last week I had a new customer call and ask if I could quilt a tee shirt quilt for her, which I was glad to do. She kept telling me not to notice the bad stitching, but I ended up telling her she had nothing to apologize for, as the sewing was very good.

Then I finished one of Cindy's quilts.

Cindy had some butternut squash from last fall that she decided to finally cook, so we cut it up to make soup.

I am still working on the water system for the garden and am nearly finished.

Thanks for visiting.

We Still Haven't Slowed Down

Riverton, Utah          High 63 Low 43

It finally got back down to normal Temperatures for this time of year. The weather guessers said it was 18 degrees above normal for April. They also say we might get snow (the awful 4 letter word) later this coming week. We did get a large rain storm yesterday morning. Today is quite windy.

Last week was very busy. Tuesday Penny went to her favorite (not) place, the vet, for her annual check-up and a couple of shots.

Wednesday, I went to the dentist to see about a small bridge that had fallen out. Next week I get one new cap and have roots taken out of 4 teeth. Good thing for Health Insurance.

Also Wednesday, we had a new windshield put in our truck.

Thursday Penny finally got a hair cut. It was way past due, but now she thinks she is freezing all the time and wants to either sit on my lap or snuggle next to me whenever I sit down.

The first picture is before and the next two are after the hair cut.

In between all of this, Cindy and I got the new planter box fill with dirt and gravel. It took three pick-up loads to fill it, a load of gravel for the bottom, a load of compost in the middle, and a load of good soil for the top.

This coming week I am going to put in a soaker water system in all of the raised planter boxes (7 now).

Cindy still spends lots of time making quilts, but I haven't had time yet to quilt any of them, but I hope to have time next week.

Thanks for visiting.

Back in Utah and Happy Easter

Riverton, Utah         High 70 Low 38

The temperature here has been a lot cooler than Yuma. It even got below freezing one night, and we had 1.5 inches of rain the second night we were home.

We left Yuma early Wednesday morning and had a good drive, although it took 12 hours. We were both tired when we got home, and are thinking of maybe making the trip a two day thing instead of driving all of it in one day. Even poor Penny was so wore out, she didn't want to do anything the next day.

I spent a day getting Cindy's RO water filtration system installed, which for an old guy, was quite a project.

It works great, with instant hot and cold RO water. Now Cindy has water  for her sourdough bread.

I spent yesterday putting together another raised garden box. Now we will need to get dirt to fill it. It seems like the work is never finished.

We are going to put in soaker tubing to water all the boxes, since the spray nozzle I put in last year don't get the water where it is needed.

I  hope everyone has a Happy Easter.

Thank you for visiting.
