We Have A Visitor

Yuma, Arizona        High 67 Low 39

The weather still is a little cool for Yuma. We had really bad wind several days.

Nancy came to visit Wednesday. She was going to come Monday or Tuesday, but the wind in Quartzsite (and here) was too strong for traveling. She brought her 5th wheel and is staying in our driveway for a few days.

Wednesday evening we have a get-together in the ballroom. This week was open mike, which means anyone that wants can get up and sing or dance or do whatever. I told some jokes. Most of the audience seemed to like them.

Thursday we went to an estate sale in the Foothills. We didn't buy anything there. We then went to a yard sale and Nancy and Cindy both found some new ceramic cooking bowls for a good price. That is all we bought.

Friday we went to Algodones  to get some meds. Nancy went with us to get some for herself. Afterward, we went to the Arizona market. They both got some fabric.

Nancy has been trying some of our freeze dried food, which she says she likes. We gave her some samples of different things.

Nancy and Cindy went to Grandma Jo's to get some southwestern fabric for Nancy's friend Patty. Nancy bought her some good southwestern materials.

Saturday I had a suttleboard referee class to go to. While I was gone, Cindy and Nancy went up to the USA parade at the Clubhouse. Cindy wore her red jacket and Hat. Nancy said that she wore a white shirt and red jacket, so they were twinsies.

At 4:00 we all had a happy hour to go to at the neighbors. We also have one to go to tonight, but we won't stay long because we invited Nancy for a Chinese dinner.

I have been working on the quilt with all the y seams. Now I know why we have had this kit for so long, It is very tedious to stitch, but I am making progress on it.

Tomorrow I have suffleboard in the morning and we are taking Nancy to a show and tell that Cindy is taking about 4 of her quilts to in the afternoon.

Thanks for visiting.

Cold Weather and Some More Quilts

Yuma, Arizona          High 65 Low 35

It has been unusually cold here in Yuma. At least I don't remember it being so cold. Yesterday the sun was out, but the wind definitely had quite a chill. It is supposed to be even colder tomorrow with more wind.

We have both been busy with quilting. Cindy had two kits and I made the first one with the exception of the borders. The kit directions said only 8 block, but they gave us enough material to make 10 more blocks  and it still isn't a very big quilt.

The next one is a kit we have had for several years. We finally decided to start it. For now all I have is a picture, but I cut out almost a thousand pieces and that is only for the blocks. This one is going to take a while to finish.

This will be a king size quilt and, of course, Cindy likes lots of pieces.

Thanks for visiting.

Quilt Show

Yuma, Arizona             High 69 Low 46

It was a little cooler today, but still nice. Utah has had a lot of snow.

We got to go to the annual Yuma Quilt Show. There were lots of different quilts and lot of vendors.

The next one was one of our favorites

We both thought the hour glass with the flowers was kind of neat.

This witch quilt was our favorite. The had a black light and it had a sign on it to shine the light on the quilt. some of the thread shined up in the black light. It was really interesting.

We got to go to a birthday party that was for one of neighbors, he turned 80. He is the one to the left of the coke can.

Several neighbors were there.

Lastly, Cindy has been busy quilting. I think she said she has finished 11 quilts since she has been here. The next two are the latest.

The quilt with the dogs isn't that big, but it sure has lot of pieces in it, which I helped cut.

And I have been playing shuffleboard three morning a week.
