Wishing Everyone a Happy New Year!

Riverton, Utah        High 19 Low 9

I just wanted to wish all our friends and future friends a Happy New Year. I sincerely hope everyone had as good a year as we did.

We have been busy trying to get ready to get out of Dodge. Last night got down to 1 degree Fahrenheit which is way to cold for my liking. Even an overnight low of 30 or so sounds a lot warmer than we have been having.

Tomorrow we will finish packing the fifth wheel and truck and we hope to be on the road early Friday morning.

We hope to see some of our old friends in Arizona and I hope to meet some new friends also.

Again, Happy New Year. Thanks for visiting.

Cold And Some More of The Four Letter Word (Snow)!

Riverton, Utah     High 32 Low 19

It has been cold here for the last few days. It snowed most of today and is predicted to snow all day tomorrow.

I know I'm getting tired of the snow. The prediction is for colder days but no snow after tomorrow.

We want to leave next Friday and are pretty much ready. Thursday night is supposed to be 10 degrees. If all the predictions are correct, we should have clear roads when we leave to go south.

It has been nice to visit with family for the holidays, but I know I am ready to leave. We need to make one more trip to Costco on Wednesday.

Tomorrow we are going to visit a quilt store whose owner died unexpectedly. They are closing the store and already have had a couple of sales, but the one tomorrow should clean them out. Two dollar a yard fabric, one dollar patterns, and 50 cent fat quarters should do the job.

We have a couple of RV Parks reserved before we get to Quartzsite. We have decided to stay with Escapees and then the Boomers for about a week. Then we are reserved at Pilot Knob RV Park for 4 nights before settling down for a month at Wellton. Our friends, Eddie and Barbara, whom we spent some time in Alaska, are staying at the same RV Park, but they are going to try to leave tomorrow and will stay there for four months.

We want to get the Mexico things, teeth cleaning, meds, and eye glasses taken care of while we are at the RV Park at Pilot Knob. We are also looking forward to the shrimp tacos. And not to mention the warmer weather.

Thanks for visiting.

We All Had a Good Christmas

Riverton, Utah        High 27 Low 16

Yesterday morning we woke up to about 2 inches of snow. Today it is clear, but cold, too cold but it is supposed to get even colder.

Penny had fun playing in the snow until she got cold. Then we had trouble getting her to do her business outside for the rest of the day because all she wanted to do was come inside.
Devon and Alyssia got to open one present each on Christmas Eve. Yesterday they had lots of presents. Alyssia got a new quilt with one of the Disney Princesses.

Penny even got 2 presents which she enjoyed opening. She likes to tear paper and make a mess, but we let her anyway.

Cindy got a new camera for Christmas. The old one worked fine but didn't have a view finder and it was hard to take pictures when the sun was out. The new one has a view finder and even has a stronger zoom. They are both Nikon Coolpix. The new one is a lot lighter than the old one, probably because of the different kind of battery.
After the kids here got through, we went to Chris and Heather's to open presents with them and Skyler and Taylor. Taylor finally got his own quilt. We gave Chris and the two boys a remote control car and asked Heather to make sure the two little boys got to play with it and not just their dad.

This year really was quilt year!

Cindy had bought me some tool boxes so I could try to get my tools a little bit organized. I guess she is tired of me having tools everywhere.
We had lots of good food to eat yesterday and today. I sure hope it is warm enough in Arizona to get a little exercise. I really need to lose some weight. We are looking forward to getting out of the cold.

Almost Ready to Head South

Riverton, Utah High 37 Low 27

It is getting colder and time to head south to Arizona. Later in the week it is predicted to get down to 7 degrees. That is way too cold for my liking.

Our plan is to leave the day after New Years, if it is not snowing on our route. I made some reservations at some of the RV Parks on the way to Quartzsite, The first one can be shortened if necessary because of bad weather.

We made a trip to Costco yesterday to stock up on food to take with us to Arizona.

I got the doors on the cabinet finished and the only pictures I have are of it. We are both happy with how it turned out.

We will be visiting family for Christmas and Taylor will finally get his Quilt. Alyssia is also getting a new quilt, so like I said before, this year is quilt year.

Again, wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Thanks for visiting.

Christmas Visits

Riverton, Utah High 48 Low 39

It is a lot warmer than usual for this time of year. It is raining now and is supposed to rain all day and again tomorrow.

We went to the cannery and canned some things for Christmas presents and Cindy got a picture of me in the clothes they have you wear while canning.
We spent the day yesterday visiting and being visited. In the morning we went to see Cindy’s mom and to deliver her birthday present and Christmas present. Cindy had a variety of quilt for her to choose from. This picture is the one she chose.
After we got home, my two sons and daughter-in-law came to visit us. They each got to choose which quilt they wanted. Nick and his wife Susie are visiting from Michigan. We had a long visit with them.

Nick is the youngest in my family.

Ted is starting a poutaine business with a portable cook shack that travels to different events. He said he has many different versions of poutains. We tried some of them at Andrea’s wedding and they are very good. The only other time we have had them was in Montreal. He says he is doing well enough at it that he is going to open a restaurant in Salt Lake selling them to supplement his food wagon. He is also talking about quitting his day job.

We have a ceramic dog that Penny now ignores, but Ted moved it around, and got Penny barking at it. It was funny to watch. Usually she doesn't make much noise except when she wants to play.

My older son and daughter-in-law and two grandkids, Sage and Micah, came to visit from Boise. Don and Bridget got to choose a quilt for their family. This must be quilt year.
Sage, my 13 year old granddaughter had seen pictures of Penny from our blog. She gave us a pencil picture she had drawn of Penny for Christmas. We think she did a good job of drawing Penny. She told me she should have put more hair in front of her eyes, but I told her Penny needed to have the hair cut from her eyes, but wouldn't let us do it. They couldn't believe how small Penny actual is. Sage and Micah had fun play with her, and of course Alyssia always plays with her.

Alyssia always like to play with Penny.
It was good to see family at this time of year.

We hope you and yours are having a good Christmas season this year.

Thanks for visiting.

Trying to Stay Busy

Riverton, Utah High 46 Low 34

It has been cold and we have had some snow only not a lot. So much for the weather forecasters.

I quilted a couple of Cindy’s quilts. They were easy overall patterns.

I got the doors to the cabinet I made on Thursday (not Wednesday as promised). I got them stained yesterday and varnished today. I am going to have to let them dry for a few days and will take some pictures after they are installed.

Today I also got some plywood to try to make our couch a little more comfortable to sit on. It seems a little better, but time will tell.

We were going to have a Christmas party at our home, but everyone seems to be too busy to make it tomorrow, so we cancelled the party.

Two of my kids are going to be here tomorrow, the one from Boise, and the youngest from Ann Arbor. They plan in being here for a few days. It will be good to see Nick’s wife, whom we missed seeing when we were in Michigan.

We are still looking forward to heading south after Christmas, but exactly when depends on the weather. It will probably be after News Year.

I think we are ready for Christmas and have delivered some presents. The kids here are anxiously looking forward to it.

Thanks for visiting.

Last of the Auto Repairs?

Riverton, Utah High 45 Low 30

It is still cold, but no more rain or snow is predicted for the next week.

We got our car back and the bill was $750 dollars. We hope this is the last of the repairs.

I had a tire guy look at the tires on the truck and trailer and he said with the alignments being done, he didn't see any problem taking the trip to Arizona, so I will wait till we get back to do anything about the tires.

Today we went to see our financial adviser to move one of the IRA's to another place. He told us we have made a little over 7% on our investments, which we feel good about.

I had one propane bottle that wouldn't let propane go to the trailer. Switching bottles didn't help, so today I replaced the regulator. I hope this fixes the problem. When I tried it, it seemed to be working.

We almost have all the things done that needed to be fixed to leave for Arizona. We are both getting anxious.Tomorrow I am supposed to get the doors for the cabinet I built, so I will have to stain and varnish them.

Right now it looks like we won't be back home until after April 5th, so I called our tax accountant to see if that would give him enough time to get taxes ready and he told me it would be long enough.

Not too much else going on.

Thanks for visiting.

We've Been Staying Busy

Riverton, Utah High 34 Low 25

Well, it finally happened. The cold weather showed up. When we went out this morning the grass was covered with snow (the awful 4 letter word). It soon melted in the warm (?) 34 degree weather. It has been cold with a little wind all day.

We had a breakfast party yesterday. They had a craft thing for the kids and had Santa. I got pictures of the kids doing their thing with Cindy's help.

Devon thinks 9 is too old for Santa, so he wouldn't go see him. Alysia seemed to like talking to him.
Last night we went to my oldest daughter, Andrea's wedding. It was the second marriage for both of them. He seems nice enough and my other kids seem to like him, so I hope it works out for them. They had lots of people there. We managed to forget our camera, so we didn't get any pictures.

My youngest daughter, Sabrina, asked me to take her to the airport this morning. She is flying back to Spokane and then will drive to Idaho. Ken didn't come because he was busy trying to get ready to move into their new home in Sandpoint, Idaho tomorrow. I hope they make it. If you remember, we promised to visit them when the weather gets warmer.

Thanks for visiting.

Finished The Cabinet for The Fiver

Riverton, Utah High 61 Low 39

It is still unusually warm for this time of year, but is supposed to get a lot colder tomorrow.

I have been working on the cabinet for the fiver for the last few days. Today I finished it and got it installed. I won't get the doors until next Wednesday. Cindy came out to see how I was doing and brought Penny with her. Of course Penny wanted to help.

Since we have been home Penny has found a place under the Christmas tree to rest during the day. She needs the hair around her eyes trimmed, but has a fit if I get anywhere near her face with the scissors. I might have to cut it when she is a sleep, before she wakes up enough to fight me.

Other than more car repairs, this time on our Pontiac, there is not much going on.

Thanks for visiting.

Running around and Cindy's Friend From Tampa

Riverton, Utah High 57 Low 37

It was another nice day, although there was frost on the grass this morning.

I got my cabinet put together yesterday and now I have to put the stain and varnish on it. I hope it does what we want. I also got the doors ordered and they will be finished next Wednesday.

Cindy had another Doctor appointment today and she didn't tell me what they said, so I think everything is OK.

After the Doctor appointment, we went to Trader Joe's in Salt Lake. While we were there, Cindy called her friend Vicki, because she was supposed to be in Salt Lake for a little while. As it turned out, she was staying at a hotel about 2 miles from Trader Joe's and was free today. So Cindy made an appointment to have lunch at 11:30.

We had a little time to kill, so we went into a store called Modern Display and looked at their Christmas tree decorations and the Department 56 displays. I took a few pictures and couldn't believe the prices they were asking.

The Harley fans would like this one.

Cindy also stopped at where she used to work and talked to some of the people she used to work with. One man told her that the State had changed the retirement so that the retiree no could longer got their sick leave. Cindy had enough that they converted it to paid up insurance until she is 71. So it was good she retired when she did.

We then went to Vicki's hotel and went to Chuck a Rama for lunch. It is all you can eat.
I have put a picture of one of the Santa quilt blocks from Cindy's quilt on tonight's post. There is also a picture of Penny. She is getting a little shaggy looking.

Thanks for visiting.
