Acadia National Park

Orland, Maine High 78 Low 57

Today started out sunny and nice. It got a little cloudy by noon, and rained a little at about 4:00. After we left the RV Park and got out to the main road, we saw a lake with a beaver lodge in the middle of the lake.

We got to see a lot of beautiful scenery today. Our first stop was the visitor center at Arcadia. We watched a 15 minute movie about the start of The Park and some of the sight seeing possibilities.

There is a one way road around the island. The first stop was Sandy Beach. It must be very popular because we had a hard time finding a parking spot.

There are many more stops for photo-ops. Most of them are full of people. It was hard to get pictures without any people in them.

After we made the circle, there is a road to the top of Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the Island. We got to see a lot of the lower parts of the Island, especially the town of Bar Harbor.

After we drove down from the Mountain, we wanted to see Bar Harbor. There was a cruise ship in and the downtown is a touristy town with people everywhere. The many shops are oriented toward the tourists. We drove through and came back to the trailer.

I have a lot of photos on this post and will put more of Acadia and Bar Harbor tomorrow.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. I know I've been one of those tourists from a cruise ship, but they sure can create a bottleneck in small towns. I know the towns love the money they bring in.
