Another Day at the Circle

This morning the ladies got together to make Christmas Spiders. There were quite a few there. Cindy said it wasn't anything she wanted to do. She still has her cold.

At noon we went to La Mesa for their free lunch, which neither one of us cared for very much. Cindy wanted to look at some more of the RVs, but still didn't find one she really liked. We drove around town a little bit, and there seems to be a lot more people now than there was on Monday. We noticed a lot of tents with vendors a little further west of the big tent that I don’t remember being here last year.

This afternoon was kite flying weather, with mild breezes, but only one person had a kite up. He told me it was almost perfect for flying.

This afternoon there was Happy Hour, but not a lot of people showed up.

In my defense from Rod’s comment, I told Sandi I was going to publish her picture when she was dancing to YMCA and she wasn't upset at all because she expected it. 

I got some of the pictures the Drone took and put a couple of them on tonight's post.

The Circle Enlarges

Today was another nice, sunny day. So far we have had very pleasant weather.

Today some Montana’s came in and also the RV Dealer brought 6 new trailers in for people to see. They were all the new models. Some we like parts of, and others had things we did not like. We don’t feel like trading to a newer model. All the new ones are a little darker color than the white they have been in the past. They have also changed the outside graphics and taken away the colored mountains. One even has 2 bathrooms.

 

At Happy Hour, the dealer brought pizza for everyone. There was a lot of pizza, and I don’t think anyone went away hungry. Afterward we had a singer that sang old Country songs. He was very good.

 

He was a good singer and knew a lot of country songs. He also sang oldies and easy listening songs.

One of the people here had a little helicopter with a camera. He flew it around taking pictures of the circle. He told me that the camera was 14 megapixels, so his pictures should be very good. There also was a motorized hang-glider the group had asked to take pictures. I would like to get some aerial photos of the Circle.

I got some pictures of Sandi swaying to the music, and one of her and Jim dancing. Everyone seemed to be having a good time.

 

Cindy is feeling a little better today, and got out a few times, but stayed away from others.

Lots More Montana’s

Today was bright and sunny all day. It was a very nice day with a little wind. Some of the people were out flying kites.

We had quite a few more people come in today and the circle is starting to fill in. They are expecting a few more, and they think the circle will be filled in by tomorrow night. We seem to have quite a variety of where they’re from.

There seems to be a lot of activities planned. Some are going golfing; some are going to The Desert Bar on Saturday, and Mac the Fire Guy is going to be here to give his demonstrations on Friday morning.

Jim and Sandi came in today and it was nice to visit with them this afternoon. It’s always good to see them.

 

They have a happy hour with food pitched in every afternoon. Tomorrow one of the RV Dealers is going to bring some new Montana’s out for everyone to see, I guess to entice someone to bur a newer trailer. They are also bringing pizzas for tomorrows get together.

 I also got a few pointers on my solar and EMS systems. John, the wagon master showed me a battery monitor he has that shows how much charge is in his batteries. It shows the percent of charge. I am thinking of adding it to my system.

Cindy hasn't been feeling well for the last few days, and didn't even get out today. I hope she gets over the cold or whatever it is she has soon. We want to be able to go see some of the vendors in town, maybe not to buy, but to just look around.

I wanted to go over the Escapee Rally tomorrow or Thursday, but might not be able to if Cindy isn't’ feeling better, because she doesn't want to spread the cold to others. I always thought the best way to get rid of a cold was to give it to someone else as long as it's not me. LOL

Montana Circle

We left Earp at about 11:00. We only had about a fifty minute drive. We found the Montana Owners Circle with no problem. We did have to stop at the BLM check in place, which gives us 2 weeks of free camping. The people at the Circle asked us where we would like to park. I asked for north or south facing, which gives me the best sunlight for our solar charging. We are a day early, so there was no problem accommodating us. We are about 8 miles from Quartzsite.

After we got all settled in, we went into town to see if there was anything going on. There didn't seem to be too many people here yet, but we are still early for the RV show, which doesn't start till next Saturday.

When we got back to the circle, it was just in time for Happy Hour. They had snacks and everyone here just seemed to mingle, renewing old friendships, and making new. After the snacks, they started a fire, and a few of the men stood around the fire talking (BS ing). I did find out there is an app for Passport America, which looks a lot handier to use than the book, so I downloaded it. I will try it out later.

Only about half the rigs they are expecting are here, but the get together doesn't actually start till tomorrow. We noticed a lot of signs for different Escapee groups along the way here. Even though there didn't seem to be much going on in town, there are still a lot of RVs camping out here.

I think most of the people here have generators, rather than solar, so right now it is a little noisy.

Saturday Swap Meet

Today was nice and warm. We love the weather.

Last night there was a fried fish dinner at the club house. For $4.99 per person, we got 4 pieces of fried fish, Cole-slaw, fries, and a biscuit. It was a lot of food for the price and was very good.

They had a large turnout, and while I was waiting in line, I got to talking to an older couple. We weren't in any hurry to move up in the line and his wife asked him to move forward. I told him it really didn't matter, because we weren't going very far anyway. He told me it reminded him of his days in the Air Force. I asked him when, and he told me 1945 in Europe. I asked him how old he was and he told me 92. He said his wife has to do all the driving because he can’t see well enough to drive, and besides she is younger than him. She is only 91. I saw them come into the Park and they travel in about a thirty foot class A motor home. She asked how old I was, and I told her. She said they had been married for as long as I have been alive. I have always understood that eventually everyone has to get off the road, but they said they had no plans to quit traveling. This gives me hope that Cindy and I are in that good of shape 20 odd years from now.

This morning we drove over to the swap meet at the County Park. It was pretty much the same as any other swap meet with the same stuff for sale. Cindy spotted some bird houses made with the bottom a cowboy boot. We didn't have any reason to use on, but maybe someone would like them.

We left the place empty handed, but it was a way to spend the morning. We went to the grocery store and bought a few things and came home. We just kind of hung out the rest of the day.

Relaxing Day

The weather couldn't be better. Not too hot or too cold. They are predicting more of the four letter word in Salt Lake. I'm sure glad I'm not there (or in many parts of the US).

We spent most of yesterday just relaxing and catching up on blogs. Cindy squared up a lot of scrap squares she is making into a quilt. This one will be black and white. She spends a lot of time making them out of all the small pieces, but she seems to enjoy making them.

Yesterday afternoon, we decided to drive to the Casino in Parker. They were advertising $10.00 in free slot play with the Players Club. Neither of us are big gamblers, but don't mind playing with their money. LOL Anyway, the free money lasted about 1/2 hour and we left with about $11.00 of their money. I hope it doesn't break the bank, but I'm sure they come out way ahead. They have their own RV Park, yet there were lots of RVs in their lot boondocking. We were both surprised they allow it. I guess they make enough on the rest of the Casino, restaurant, and hotel that it makes up for the boondockers.

We saw lots of Burros on the road back to the RV Park, and the afternoon visitors were back begging for food.

Cindy was feeling what she thought was the start of a cold, so she went to bed early. I stayed up and watched some more TV.

Tomorrow we are going to drive to the County Park north of Parker and visit with the Escapees at the Rally that is starting today. We have been told there is also a flea market and farmers market going on on Saturdays.

Cleaning Day

It was another warm day today with sunshine all day. It started out a little cool, but soon warmed up and then got hot (to us) this afternoon.

I spent most of the morning and early afternoon cleaning the outside of the fiver. There was a lot of dirt on it, even though I pressure washed it while we were home. I used the Solution, which makes it quite a bit easier than trying to clean any other way.

We went for a long walk around the Park and still didn’t make it to the far end either way. This Park is huge.

 

While we were on our walk, we saw this older Montana that had most of the factory decals gone, but they had put a Thomas Kinkade sticker on one side. We both thought it was interesting because we like his paintings. We stopped and talked to the lady that it belongs to and told her about the Montana Owners Circle in Quartzsite, that we will be at next week. They said they may stop in.

While walking back, the Burros were back and had brought friends with them, for a total of five. We had seen signs about the Burros on the highway coming here, but didn't think much about it, until we saw them last night. They are all looking for a handout, and some got too close to photograph. One of the campers across brought them some celery, and they tried to mob her. They are extremely tame.

Cindy worked on some applique for one of her quilts, while I worked on washing the outside.
