Cowboy Days

Yuma, Arizona          High 80 Low 51

The weather has been very nice for the last while. It is starting to get warm.

Fortunately Arizona doesn't use daylight savings time, unlike most of the rest of the country. This reminds me of a joke I once heard: An old Indian said that Daylight Savings Time was like cutting off one end of a blanket and then sewing it onto the other end to make it longer. Yes, it makes about as much sense.

We had Cowboy Days in our Park. We were supposed to dress up like Cowboys and did different events. It lasted for two afternoons and it was a lot of fun.

We started out with a roping demonstration by a woman that was an Arizona champion bull roper. Her son also was a champion.

She then let some of the audience try their hand at lassoing.

The next event was one that I got "volunteered" for. It was called a cow pie eating contest. It was actually chocolate pudding in a large pie plate in the shape of a cow pie. We then had to eat it without using our hands. The first one finished was the winner.

I was next to the winner.

We all had lots of chocolate on our faces. It was still fun.

There are so many pictures that I will have to do another post.

Thanks for visiting.
