We've Both Been Busy

Riverton, Utah       High 88 Low 58

The weather finally got hot, too hot for this early in the summer. The weather guessers are predicting 100 degrees Saturday, which will be a new record high for the date that has stood since 1918.

Cindy told me that some of the yard didn't seem to be getting water. We had a sprinkler repair company work on the sprinkler heads last year. I checked the screen the heads had on them, and all of them were almost plugged with dirt and goo, so I cleaned them and now they seem to be doing better.

Cindy is still making more quilts. She has me square up a lot of the small blocks she sews, and I have done so many that I tell her they must be breeding to have so many. It seem like every night there are a pile of about 100 to trim. Oh, well, I guess I haven't got anything better to do while I watch TV.

I finally got through with the quilt I have been working on for the last 2 weeks. The panel is called Dream Big Leaf. I bought the quilting patterns to do it from Wasatch Quilt Designs. The last set had 57 different patterns in it, while this one only has 24. I didn't care for what she did after the large center set of leaves, so I didn't use some of her designs. Instead, I followed the veins in the leave. What took so long was using about 12 different colors of thread for all the different colored leaves. Each set of leaves are in sets of 8.

Then every other block is a different color, which again required a thread change.

Sorry, the quilt pictures are all I have this time.

We found out that our next door neighbor in Yuma, who is from Edmonton, Alberta, is going to have a triple bi-pass surgery on his heart this summer. We both hope everything turns out well for him.

Today we got a notification that one of our local Grocery Stores had a special on strawberries. We bought quite a few cases, so Cindy can make strawberry syrup and tonight we had strawberry short-cake.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. I never heard of making strawberry syrup. Is it for pancakes?

  2. I remember when you bought that panel. WOW ... what an amazing quilt job you did!!! That is gorgeous!! I haven't tried doing anything other than edge to edge. Maybe I'll try something small. As to trimming all those squares ... you must be really GOOD at it!! I'm doing lots of that with this latest quilt and it's not all that fun!!!

  3. That quilt is Amazing. I can see how time consuming all those thread changes would be.
Be Safe and Enjoy the Strawberries.

    It's about time.
