Be Careful What You Wish For

Prince George, British Columbia              High 63 Low 46

We left the RV Park at Chetwynd this morning. It had rained most of the night, hard at times. We had light rain part of the way and Cindy was able to get some great scenery pictures. She also got some pictures of a rainbow that we were able to see for a while.

We got about half way to Prince George and I had been complaining that in spite of all the wild life signs we had been seeing, we hadn’t saw any animals to speak of. We had seen a few deer, but no moose of caribou. Shortly after I made the comment we came upon a deer running down the road. I was able to get slowed down and the deer jumped the barrier.

We went for a ways further and had just gone down a steep hill and had gone over a bridge, when a cow moose decided to try to cross the road. I had to slam on the brakes and squealed tires trying to stop and got about 3 feet from the moose when she decided she didn’t really want to cross the highway and turned around.

I felt like the only reason I was able to stop in the time I had was due to the disc brakes and I told Cindy that this one incident more than paid for the disc conversion. I am sure that if I still had the drum brakes, we would have hit the moose and that would have been the end of our trip.

Bottom line…..be really careful of what you wish for because you might get it.

We continued on with out any more stress and Cindy got some more scenery pictures, including some great pictures of some wildflowers and as the day went on the rain quit.

Tonight we are at the Treasure Cove Casino RV parking lot with a whole lot of other boondockers.

Tomorrow we will head for Smithers, which is about half way to Prince Rupert.

Thanks for visiting.

  1. Hitting a moose would not be a good thing. They can really destroy a rig. I love all your cloud pictures. We definitely aren't seeing any clouds down here.
