John Anderson Concert

It’s finally getting a little warmer and is supposed to continue to warm up for the next week. We Hope!

We had volunteered to help with some of the stuff at the park. This afternoon we were taken up on it and helped at the John Anderson concert. I got to be one of the ticket takers and Cindy was an outside greater directing people to the correct entrance. We had to be there about an hour before the concert was scheduled to start. People started to come at about a half hour before it started.

It got pretty busy taking tickets for a while then tapered off just before the concert started. At that point all the help were allowed to take whatever seat was available.

We enjoyed the concert although Cindy hadn’t known who John Anderson was. We both recognized a lot of his songs, including Seminole Wind, Wild and Blue, and I’m just an Old Chunk of Coal to name a few.

Today Nancy wanted to come and see us, but we weren’t home first this this morning and she didn’t know which lot we are on. Also she didn’t have my cell number so we found out that the security works much to Nancy’s dismay. I’m sorry we missed her, but it is good to know that the security here works like it is supposed to. I answered her email, but probably way after she tried in vain to see us. Hopefully we can get together later in the week.

Friday there is a quilt show here in Yuma that we plan on seeing.

I made an appointment with our dentist in Algodones for tomorrow morning. I have to be there fairly early and hopefully I get back to the USA before the lines get too long.

Visit From Fellow Bloggers

It was a nice sunny day today and a little warmer than the last few days.

Linda got the part installed on her motor home and the slide went out…….but wouldn’t come back in. They kept getting some error code. They decided that the controller was also bad and had to order another part. At that point they decided to go to Phoenix and see Scot and Dan for a few days until the part got here then come back and have it installed. So they left this morning. 

Yesterday Cindy started going to the pottery class and I haven’t seen what she made yet, but she said it had to dry and then get it fired. She said it was a little hard and took some strength to roll the clay. She is happy to finally get to try it.

Last night we went to watch the square dancers for a while. It has been almost 20 years since we square danced and I don’t remember a lot of what they were doing, so if we do it again, we will have to take beginner lessons again.

We had Kevin and Evelyn come to visit us this afternoon. We spent some time with them visiting and they look at our home. They told us they have stayed in the Park in the past and last year when they were here they got a special. This year they are stay at the Fortuna De Oro RV Park which is east of us and on the other side of the interstate. We had a good visit and hope to see them at Bloggerfest in two weeks.

We haven’t been doing too much, but there are a lot more people here now that the holidays are over, so they might have a lot more going on.

Shingle Repair

When we woke up this morning there was a little mist and it was cool. By 10:00 it stopped and the day got a little warmer. Then by noon the sun came out for a while and it got pleasant. Then about 3:00 it clouded up and after while it started to rain lightly again. Right now it is raining a little harder and is supposed to continue until midnight.

We all went to La Mesa RV this morning and Linda found out that her part is supposed to get in tomorrow. Then, if it does, they can do the repairs Thursday and then Linda and her Mom probably will leave. While we were at La Mesa, we took advantage of their free breakfast.

By noon it had dried out and was warm enough I decided to do the shingle repair. I had noticed 2 shingles missing and when I checked they were broken off. There were extra shingle in our shed and I got the roof cement yesterday. It wasn’t too big a job and I got the two broken shingles replaced and all the one I had to loosen tarred back down. They should be OK for a while.

Afterward I took Penny for a walk and happened on two of her friends and their owner. We stopped and talked for a while and he told me that this year has had the most rain and been colder than any time since he has been coming here (the last 4 years). We both hoped the rain stops and it gets warmer.

Finished up My Part of the Cabinets

Finished up My Part of t he Cabinets

We woke up to rain this morning and it rained most of the day. The forecast now is for more rain tomorrow evening and again Thursday. Also it is supposed to stay cool, but you know the weather guessers, they seem to change the forecast hourly.

Cindy and I went to a beginning Spanish class this morning. I don’t get how to roll rs and the language might be hard for me. The teacher, who also lives in Utah in the summer, showed the class a lot of Spanish words we already knew; only some of our pronunciations are incorrect. There will be a class every week for the rest of the season. I hope to at least learn some of the basics of the language.

After the class I went to Eddie and Barbara’s to help them install the cabinet bases. I thought it might take longer than it did, but I guess we learned enough about the ones we started last week, that we were able to get all the bases built and some of them installed to the point Eddie can finish them himself. They bought a furniture store’s display cabinets and they aren’t exactly what a cabinet company would build, but they were able to save a lot of money. The cabinets are really heavy and probably better built than normal. The Microwave cabinet and the Microwave are part of what we got installed last Saturday.

This set of lowers are the other part we did Saturday.

The rest of the lower cabinets are ready to fasten down.

Eddie isn't sure who is going to make the tops for him.

This is a little different island.

We were glad to get done today and I don’t have to go back to help him until he gets back from Riverton in a couple of weeks. He has some aluminum decking he plans on installing by his back door. He also want to put a larger back door on his home and change the swing on it from going out (per the house trailer type door) to a regular home door.

Eddie’s back is not so good and he seemed to appreciate the help I gave him. He and Barbara are friends we spent some time with in Alaska in 2013 and they don’t live too far from us in Riverton, Utah.

If the day is dry tomorrow, I have a couple of missing shingles to replace on our home. I was able to get what I need to do the job at Wally’s World, a hardware store near us.

Linda seems to be getting the run around from La Mesa RV on the part they supposedly ordered for her slide on their motor home, so we are going to go over there tomorrow instead of phoning and getting promises to call back which they never do. I told her that it is a lot harder to ignore you when you are sitting in their shop.

Installing Cabinets

Today started out a little on the cool side, but it warmed up nicely. Tomorrow is supposed to be even nicer and then cool off again.

This morning Cindy and I went to some garage sales and found lots of good deals. Sometimes we don’t find anything.  One of today’s bargains was a coffee table with two matching end tables. I paid a little more than I usually like to spend, but they are nice powder-coated metal tables with glass tops that will look nice in our living room and I decided $60.00 didn’t sound too bad. The same sale had some camp chairs for $2.00 each that felt pretty sturdy. We needed some for the upcoming Blogger Fest and they will work well for that.

After the garage sales I went over to my friends Eddie and Barbara, Whom have a home in the Yuma Foothills. They are in the process of remodeling their kitchen, and Eddie needed some help installing cabinets. We got the microwave cabinet and microwave installed and got a start on putting the lower cabinets in the kitchen. Hopefully we will be finished Monday or Tuesday and I’ll try to remember to take some pictures.

Monday the Park seems to be starting to have a lot more going on and there are some things we want to participate in. There are a lot more people here now. Yesterday as I was leaving, I counted 5 rigs waiting to get parked, so a lot of the people that wait until after Christmas have arrived.

We have had a good 2015. We got to see lots of places and ended up in Yuma.

Today We Got to Meet Some Fellow Bloggers

When we got up this morning all the streets were wet. It rained softly most of the night, but Cindy and I didn’t hear it.

It soon warmed up and was a nice day as long as we weren’t in the slight wind.

I forgot to put penny’s picture on the blog sitting in her new bed. I think she is a cutie.

We were shopping and we noticed this Smart Car. It would seem someone from Oregon has a sense of humor.

First time I've ever seen a wind-up car.

This afternoon we drove to Pilot Knob RV Park to finally meet George and Suzie Yates. They are a nice couple. They are Canadian full-time RVers and bloggers. I have been reading Georges blog for a long time, but I guess I’m more of a lurker then make a lot of comments. Anyway, we spent a good hour visiting with them and reminiscing about RV travels. George somehow got the job this year of spearheading the Bloggerfest in Quartzsite this year and we talked some about it and where it will be held. Cindy and I plan on attending this year, as we had other commitments last year. It should be fun to get to meet some of our old friends and hopefully meet some new ones.

We don’t have much planned for the rest of the week.
