Trivia With a Twist

It was a nice day and tonight is going to be a little cool.

Last night we joined in Trivia with a Twist. It is a fun event put on with 6 teams competing for points and prizes (?).

We were part of the first group of contestants. We called our team The Oreos. It should have been obvious why we named out team that, but I had to explain that we named it that because two of the members were wearing dark sweaters and I had a light sweater. We thought that when we were together, we looked like an Oreo cookie.

Our team, The Oreos. Don't we kind of look like an Oreo cookie. Our team was Fred to my right, myself, and, Paul on my left.

The first event was trivia with all the questions from the eighties. We ended that round with 30 points and one of the teams with 40.

Next the team captain was given the name of an eighties song and his other team member had to guess what the song was and sing a little of it. Our first song was Love Shack and Paul knew it and guessed right from what I drew.

We ended that round tied with the other team. Our final round was with Paul with inflatable horns tied on his head while Fred and I took turns throwing blow up ring at his horns trying to catch them on the horns. Fred and I took turns throwing the rings and we ended with two rings caught which gave us the win for round 1.

The other three teams had different things to guess and do including make a pyramid with plastic cups using a small balloon to move them without actually touching the cup. If they fell over they got to start over.

After this round we played the 2nd round winners for the championship. Tom had taken pictures of different things and we had to guess what they were. We ended up way ahead until the final event which was to blow ping pong balls into cups. We ended up tied at the end of this round.

 

 The tie breaker was like Jeopardy where you had to decide how many point to bet and then answer a question. we ended up loosing, but when asked what the other team wanted, they picked an envelope which turned out to be empty. We then had a choice between a large box and what was behind a divider. We chose the box, which turned out to be signed pictures of the head security guard and the general manager looking like hill billies. Not really great prizes, but still lots of fun.

Bingo

The weather today is a lot cooler than it has been. Yesterday we got the most rain we have had here since we have been coming to Yuma.

One of our friends has been pushing the Park management to get Bingo here in our Park. She worked hard to finally get it to happen.

While neither one of us are big gamblers, we went to show our support for our friend.

The first time there were 124 people present. We sat with our friends from our neighborhood and one our Oregon friends won twice and could have won 3 times, but he missed one number. I got within one number but it didn't come up.

The last Bingo session  had 152 people, so I guess it is popular.

We play a total of 13 games and again twice I got within 1 number.

There is always something going on in our Park. Tonight there is a Trivia with a twist. They are always fun to watch. More on that later.

2020 Car Show

Earlier this week we had a lot of wind and it was cold, high 30's but yesterday and today it was the kind of weather we came to Yuma for.

I remember the car show last year and it was cold and windy. Today the sun shone and the weather couldn't have been better. There were a lot of cars with a lot of people viewing them.

The oldest I saw was a 1921 Model T truck. It looked like it was all original, a really nice car.

 There were several cars there that looked a lot like some I have owned in the past. I once owned a 1934 Chev 4 door sedan like one that was in the show except mine never looked as good as the one that was here.

When I was in High School I also had 2 1948 Chevs, one was a 4 door sedan and the other a coupe which at the time was in excellent condition.  Mine was colored grey. The interior on this yellow one looked to be original.

There were lots of other classics here, some of them were really rare.

It's a little hard to tell, but this car has one wheel completely off the ground using hydraulic cylinders.  The trunk was full of pumps and 6 very large 6 volt batteries. The one above also had hydraulics cylinders.

I was kind of fun seeing all the old  (and some not so old) cars. Most of the rebuilt cars had V-8 engines in them, but some had their original engines and drive trains.

Happy Hour

We have had some nice days here with sun shine and not so cool.

We decided to have a Happy Hour here at our home to kind of break in our new patio cover.

We invited some of our friends along with Mike and Sandy Mills that are staying in our Park for a little while longer. We sincerely hope they felt welcome.

This Happy Hour was where everyone brought something to eat and we all chatted for a while. The hour turned into almost three hours with some of our guests only staying for a little while because they had other commitments.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves with lots of friendly kidding and talking about some of the things they have done. We hope to do it again before we leave at the end of March.

Canada Day Parade and Lunch With Fellow Bloggers

It seems like it is getting a little warmer every day.

Yesterday there was a parade for the Canadians in our Park. There sure were a lot of golf carts decorated for the parade. There were banners for every Canadian Provence. I got some picture of most of them (somehow I seemed to missed British Columbia and the Northwest Territories).

 

 

 After the parade We picked up Mike and Sandy Mills,fellow bloggers that are staying in our Park, and took them to a little outdoor Mexican place on the South Frontage Road for shrimp tacos. We think they are as good as the one we have had in Algodones and we don't have to go to Mexico to get them. Also the prices seem reasonable. Tuesday we have invited them to our home for a happy hour. While we drove there we pointed out two more of our favorite restaurants, The Chicken (formerly Chicken on the Run) and the Eatery both on the South Frontage Road. Thursday the Chicken has a chicken and rib buffet, and Friday the Eatery has a fish and fries buffet. Both are good but the fish one is probably our favorite.
