North Ranch

Congress, Arizona                      High 82 Low 50

We arrived at the North Ranch Escapee Park on Monday. I had reserved site 43 and it was available. When we went to park, I noticed site 7 open and it had some afternoon shade, so I asked at the office if we could trade, and I was told that as we would only be here 2 weeks, go ahead and trade. So now we are in site 7, which backs up to the clubhouse and we have a tree in back of us.

While Cindy went to a beading thing, Penny and I walked through the cactus garden and got a few pictures of the cactus blossoms. There is also a giant saguaro in the garden they call Methuselah; the sign says it is about 400 years old. Some of the cactus blossoms look very delicate. Penny and I had a nice walk, but it was a little warm.

I went to the Congress Mercantile for one of their pizzas and it was as good as last year. It is large enough that we made 2 meals out of it.
Cindy made another necklace at beading, and I finished tying everything together for her today. It turned out pretty nice.
I drove down to see Jana and Mike where they are staying in the Park. We had a visit for a little while. Penny started playing with Emmi’s ball and Emmi didn't seem to like it. They got along otherwise.

The wood carvers are busy at the activity center. Some of the carvings are very realistic. One of the teachers carved some birds. The feathers look like they are real, although they are wood. Bill and Jan are here for the wood carving and I found them in the activity center.

There is a large horse and rider that belongs to one of the banks in Wickenburg. Someone stole the horses head, and it has been gone for a while. Recently, during a wind storm, the whole statue fell over causing extensive damage. Someone at this Park volunteered to repair it and we got to see it in the process of being repaired.

Today we went into Wickenburg to a fabric store that is going out of business. The owner is trying to sell the building and wants to move back to Colorado. She said 11 years here was long enough. Almost the entire remaining inventory is one sale. There isn't much material left, but Cindy found some pieces that will go with a quilt she is making.

This afternoon we went to the quilter get together at the clubhouse. It is not like any quilters thing we have been to before. They get in a large circle and tell something about themselves. Then they have show and tell. Then the patterns of the month are passed out. Finally one of the ladies gives a demonstration about a technique that the others may not have seen before. We are used to having the quilters bring their machines and sewing. To each their own, I guess.

Thanks for visiting.

Views Around the RV Park

Views Around the RV Park
Eloy, Arizona                                   High 84 Low 55

We just rested all day. It was quite warm this afternoon.

We took some pictures of the RV Park. There aren't very many RVs here now and I have been told that a lot of People have left toward home, wherever that may be. It is supposed to be up to 93 by next Sunday. Salt Lake doesn't get that warm until late June or July.

This is the Office and Rec Room.

The bigger plants are some of the citrus trees.

This Dove and some Quail are the only wildlife we have seen.
The Palm trees at the entrance are lit up at night.
I talked to my daughter that moved to Sandpoint Idaho, and she says it is a lot warmer than usual and the berries will probably be ripe by late May or early June.

This RV Park has lots of citrus trees in bloom and the smell of citrus seems to be everywhere when we go for walks. We even found an orange tree with oranges on it. The Park invites anyone that wants to pick what fruit they want. The oranges were a little small, but tasted good.

This evening I got some pictures of the Arizona sunset. I even got a picture of the crescent moon and a nearby planet. I don’t know which planet it is.

Tomorrow we will leave here fairly early for North Ranch. The GPS says we have a 2 hour drive, so it will probably take 2 ½ hours.

Thanks for visiting.

Short Post

Eloy, Arizona             High 81 Low 54

We left the Escapee Saguaro Park in Benson before 9:00 this morning.

We drove an easy 2 hour drive to The Desert Valley RV Resort in Eloy. It looks to be a nice clean RV Park. There aren't too many people still here. I talked to some people from Minnesota and they told me that a lot of the people have left for the summer. It is located about 8 miles from Casa Grande.

We needed a few groceries, some fuel, and some dog food for Penny, which we picked up at Petsmart.

I had to pay 2.449 per gallon for diesel. It has gone up a little, but still isn't too bad.

Cindy wanted a haircut, which she got at Great Clips while I got fuel. While we were in Casa Grande the truck showed 88 degrees outside. Pretty warm for us.

We are staying here for 2 nights and then are headed to North Ranch.

Thanks for visiting.

Saguaro Silliness

Benson, Arizona                 High 72 Low 46

Today was a nice sunny day all day. We had a few clouds toward evening, but not enough to get a good sunset picture. Cindy did get some pictures across the valley.

This afternoon there was a tribute to the Escapee Founders still living at this Park. There was a good turnout.

This evening we went to some skits put on by members of the park. The first was a misfit beauty pageant. This was total silliness and had the whole audience laughing.

The second was supposed to be someone trying to buy a computer that knew nothing about computers. It also had the audience laughing the whole way through.

The third skit was about a man in a hurry trying to get his car registered. He kept asking the person in front of him if he could go before him. He almost made it to the front of the line, when the person in front of him got to the clerk and was selling her some Avon. The clerk told him he would have to go to another line because she was on break and he was then at the back of the line again because all the people he talked into letting him go ahead of them had saw what was happening and got in the new line ahead of him. Everyone had a good time with this skit.

The last skit was supposed to be the 1956 USA Olympic Men’s synchronized swim team. We all had a good time with this one also. All of the program was a lot of fun for the whole crowd.
The blue plastic was supposed to be water and they are in the swimming pool.

It has been an enjoyable week here. We leave tomorrow for an RV Park near Casa Grande for two days and leave there for North Ranch Monday.

I did find the part I need for our water heater in Casa Grande but the parts store is not open on Saturday and will have to pick it up on Monday morning.

Thanks for visiting.

Games at Saguaro Park

Benson, Arizona                   High 64 Low 46

We got a little more rain this afternoon and it was chilly all day.

This morning the day started out with a blind golf cart race. An obstacle course had been set up and the driver was blind folded. The passenger then directed the drive but was not allowed to say right, left, or stop. They had to use other words. Some did really well and others crashed and had to back up. One pair spoke Japanese to give directions. Somebody else won however. It was fun to watch.

Right after lunch there were Silver Olympics. The game included Junga, Bean Bag Toss, cloths pin drop, ping-pong, cake walk, and Ping-Pong ball carry. You only had to participate to be entered in the drawing. I don’t know who won.

Cindy wiped me out,,,,,30 to 0.

I made it without dropping the ball.

Our team won the Ping-Pong match.
Cindy finished sewing her baby quilt. It turned out nice.

At 4:00 we went to happy hour to meet other people in the Park. It was good to meet some of the lease holders.

Tonight’s entertainment was a couple singing old western songs. A lot of the couples danced and it was enjoyable to listen to them.

We are scheduled to be in North Ranch on the 23rd and will stay there for 2 weeks. I want to watch the wood carvers and Cindy plans on going to classes during bead week.
