Seward, Alaska Day 48,June 19, 2013

 Here are some pictures around town, where we are parked, and Cindy at the back of the boat.

Today we woke up to rain. It was q lot cooler than it has been, and everyone we have talked to tells us it has been much warmer than normal. We walked to the cruise office to register for the glacier cruise we signed up for yesterday. We used the Tour Saver Book, and bought the optional buffet lunch. It was scheduled to leave at 10:00 and we were supposed to be there by 9:00. They started to board at 9:30, and left right at 10:00. We ran into Bob and Bonnie, whom we've been seeing on our trip to Alaska.

 We got a little way from the town, and started seeing Bald Eagles. Cindy got a picture of three of them flying at once.

We went a little way further, and saw a Humpback Whale. The captain stopped the ship and said we would wait about 10 minutes to see the whale some more. We did get to see this whale some more and several other Humpbacks on our trip.

 We next got to see some dolphins, but weren't able to get any pictures. We got to see a pod of Killer Whales and got some pictures.

 After we left the Killer Whales, we went across the open Ocean, and the waves were very high. Several people, including me got very sea sick. Cindy never gets sick, and I’m jealous, but that’s the way I've always been. I took some sea sick pills, but all they did was make me sleepy. When we got to calmer waters they served lunch, but I declined to eat. Cindy’s lunch looked good, but as it turned out, it wouldn't have done me any good to eat.

We made it to the first glacier we were scheduled to see, and went up to almost the ice floating on the ocean. The ranger told us that the dark spots we could see were sea lions. There seemed to be quite a few, but were too far away to really see well enough to get good pictures.

We then went to the next glacier, which was a lot bigger than the first one. Cindy got a picture of the ice falling into the ocean. There was a lot more ice floating on the ocean by this one. She also got a picture of what looks like clear ice.

 We had to start back toward Seward, and still got to see more sea life. Cindy got some pictures of a starfish on a rock. We were followed by some more dolphins, but still were unable to get any pictures. There as a sea otter with her pup, but the picture didn't come out.

 We went close enough to see a group of sea lions on the rocks. They ranger made a joke about them being teenagers, just resting on the rocks. We also saw some puffins, and some other birds.

The whole trip took about 7 ½ hours, and was about 120 mile in all. We got to see a lot of sea life, and a lot of beautiful scenery. Even though I got sea sick, we both thought it was worthwhile.

I know there are a lot of pictures, Cindy took over 460, and I got about 40 with the smaller camera. We tried to pick out the best.
