Beautiful Sunset and New Great Grandson

Yuma, Arizona       High 70 Low 57

It was cloudy today and a lot cooler than it has been.

Last Saturday there was a Park wide Yard Sale. We had a few pieces of furniture and a Mexican vase and cookie jar for sale. We were a little apprehensive about whether we would be able to sell the furniture but we had priced it exactly for what we paid (at a yard sale) and were able to sell everything. One lady drove by and saw the pottery and had her husband drive around the block and came back and bought them. A friend of mine that had just built a garage with a large craft room on the back took all the furniture. We were sold out in about an hour after we set up which left us time to see what else was available in the Park.

Last night Cindy was able to get some pictures of the beautiful sunset. Only in Arizona.

We are still staying busy during the day. Cindy's quilt group is going well with several others showing interest. Some didn't bring their sewing machines but have said they would next year.

The time here seems to fly by, her it is almost December. We got our Christmas tree up and the light on our front fence. We both kind of wish we had more Christmas decorations.

We have a new Great Grandson. Cindy's oldest grand daughter had her baby about 2 weeks ago and we finally got pictures of him and his mother. From what we have been told they both are doing well.

This is Ryler.

My second youngest son informed me that they are expecting a new baby in April. They are expecting a girl. The family is sure growing. This will make 20 grand kids. He also told me that they are in the process of moving to one of the Islands of Washington state. Hopefully we can go see them this summer.

Thanks for visiting.

Thanksgiving With Some Friends

Yuma, Arizona       High 89 Low 60

The weather here has been unusually warm the last two day. Yesterday the high for the day broke a high for the day that has stood since 1950. The weather guessers also predicted today would be a new high.

We have a lot more people here in our Park with more making it every day.

The Park put on Thanksgiving dinner for all the people here. They supply the turkey and gravy and each table of 20 have a pitch in for the rest of the dinner.

Lots of food for 20.

Cindy and some of the other ladies at our table decorated the table.
Some of the other tables were complaining that there wasn't enough food for everyone but our table had plenty to fill everyone up with lots left over.

Everyone signs up for a table showing what they are bringing so there won't be too many duplication's.

I don't know if it was because we took the carving knife and fork but I got elected to do the carving on the turkey. Everyone seemed to be happy with the job I did and I told them that I had over 50 years practice.

We had a few new people that I have seen but don't really know sitting at our table. Most of the ones we sat with I do know and a good time was had by all. Most of us had left overs to take home and we have enough for another meal.

There were about 280 people at the dinner.

I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving, we sure did.

Thanks for visiting.

We Are Enjoying it Here

Yuma, Arizona              High 84 Low 62

The weather has been delightful for the last while.

It was a little cloudy all day today and we had a beautiful sunrise. Cindy tried to take some pictures but by the time she got the camera the bright red sky was mostly gone. These pictures do show some of what we got to see.

Yuma is having a balloon thing going on and we got to see about 20 balloons in the sky over our area. While this is nowhere as many as Albuquerque, it was still fun to watch especially when some of them flew right over our RV Park.

I spent the morning playing shuffle board while Cindy sewed on one of the quilts she is making.

Cindy had a few more ladies at her sewing last Wednesday so that is picking up.

This afternoon we went to dinner with some of our friends from here in the Park and afterward we went to see the new Murder on the Orient Express. I don't think I've ever seen the other movies of which this is the latest remake so we all were taken by surprise by the ending.

Our Park is beginning to fill up but a lot of the visitors won't get here till after Christmas. There are a lot more people here now than last year because of a 2 for one deal they had for this year which brought a lot of new people into the Park. To get the deal they had to be first time visitors to the Park then they got up to 3 months free. I don't know if the deal will be repeated for next year.

Anyway we are having a good time here in paradise.

Thanks for visiting.

A Few Thoughts.

Yuma, Arizona       High 86 Low 62

The weather here has been almost perfect, not too hot during the day and cool enough with windows open to have nice sleeping weather. And we have had very little wind, unlike the last two years. I hope it lasts.

Cindy got started with her quilt block class. It was somewhat of a lite turn-out but it is still early in the season and we did have a few stop by to see what was going on that promised to come back next week.

Shuffle board has started here at our Park.We play Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Cindy has told me that she feels like a shuffle widow sometimes. We also have a fun league where the different Parks around Yuma go to other Parks and play each other on Tuesdays. Last year I was asked to head it this year and I told them that if they couldn't get anyone else I would do it. Connie, one of the shuffle board players finally volunteered and I was let off the hook.........but, a week ago, she stopped by and asked me if I would take over for her because they are going to Colorado for a week and then home to Edmonton until after Christmas and would I head it up as she wouldn't be able to be the captain. So I agreed to take over for her.

Besides all of this, the Palms Bike Brigade ride around the Park three nights a week. The most people that have participated before last night was 20. Then last night we had 24 bike riders. Most have lights in their spokes and we have one rider playing music and everyone honks and rings their bells whenever we meet anyone. This lasts for about 3 miles through the Park and we take about 30 minutes.

The small dog owners meet at the Small dog park most afternoons for Yappy Hour. The small dogs play and bark at new comers and seem to have a lot of fun while the owners visit. Whenever a new dog starts to come into the Park they are met with a bunch of barking dogs. Some people seem reluctant to bring their dogs in, but I have assured them that the small dogs barking are only the greeting committee and everything will be OK. and after they are in, all the dogs are playing and smelling each other and I've never seen any of the dogs get hurt. Whenever we start walking toward the small dog Park, Penny seems to know exactly where we are headed and will walk the whole way even though it is a half mile one way. She even wants to head that way when we are just out for a walk.

Needless to say, we are staying busy here in Yuma and in our RV Park and are much more active than we would be if we were home in Utah.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy Halloween

Yuma, Arizona            High 83 Low 61

The Temperature has moderated some. It has not been quite so hot in the afternoon for the last few days.

The Park had a welcome back Burger Bash for those that we here already. A few people attended but not as many as when the season gets going.
Yesterday we Has a Halloween soup and salad for all the residents that are here. Those that wanted to dressed up with costumes and everyone had a good time and we all overate.

Before the dinner, we had a cart parade where some the ones that dressed in costume rode around the park before dinner. Tom, one of our neighbors, designed a pumpkin that gave out candy and cans of beer.

Everyone that attends the dinner is expected to bring soup, salad, or dessert. Like I said before, there was plenty to eat.

Cindy has been busy sewing quilts and is now working on about 6 at the same time.
