Quilt Shows

Yuma, Arizona        High 68 Low 43

It was windy again today and supposed to be worse tomorrow. I'm really getting tired of the bad weather.

Last Thursday and Friday we had two quilt shows at different Parks. The first was at Country Roads. They both had quite a few quilts on display made by the people in the Parks. I have so many pictures, that I am planning on putting them on several posts. So here goes.

The next one was one of our favorites.

We both like the one above and the one below.

More pictures next time.

Shuffleboard Tournament

Yuma, Arizona               High 67 Low 40

Today started out a little cool, But by 10:00 it turned into a really nice day.

We had a shuffleboard tournament last week. We call it a fun pin tournament. We had 96 entrants. There is a bowling pin at each end place at the bottom of the 10 point section. In the tournament you are playing against the person beside you and not teams. If you knock the pin over, you are penalized 10 points. It adds a new level to playing shuffleboard.

If you loose your first game, you move to consolation. When you loose your second game, you are out. And anyone loosing after the first day is out of the tournament, championship or consolation.

Unfortunately, I lost my first two games, so I spent the last few games refereeing.

Win or loose, it was still fun.

It is still cooler than normal and we have had a lot of wind the last week. Last night we got more wind and rain.

I have some pictures of the golf carts decorated for the USA Parade and I felt like I needed to get them on a post.

The Canada Parade is coming up in about 2 weeks.

Car Show and Another Quilt

Yuma, Arizona         High 70 Low 48

Yesterday we woke up to a lot of rain, which lasted until about 9:00 AM.  The wind today and again tonight has been quite strong. The wind is supposed to stop at about midnight.

Last Saturday we had our annual Car Show here in the Park. It was beautiful weather and we seemed to have more cars and visitors than usual.

There were, as always, lots of really nice cars from all over, even some from Canada. There were even some for sale in various stages of rebuilding.

We finished a quilt that we got as a kit from Nancy. the pattern wasn't for a very big quilt, but we had enough material to make it into a nice sized throw.

It is an oriental print. Thank you Nancy for the kit.

Thanks for visiting.

Lots Going On

Yuma, Arizona          High 77 Low 40

It finally got warmer here in Yuma.

Monday we went to a craft show at our Church here in Yuma. There are a lot of talented people. Cindy was intrigued by some plastic hammers made from plastic grocery bags. He told us he put them in a can in a small oven at about 350 degrees and kept adding them until he had the can full. he did the same thing with the handle, but in some kind of mold. He then drilled the hammer head and heated the head and handle and put them together, They seemed to make a very strong hammer.

We took about 6 of Cindy quilts, and had lots of favorable comments.

Another one that impressed us was using tiny beads to created pictures. It looked like it took a lot of time, as the small beads were very tiny.

There was rock polishing, wood work, making vases with gourds and card making to name a few.

We took Nancy with us to the Craft Show and she seemed to like seeing all the Crafts. She was going to leave the next day, if possible, but the wind was too great to drive with her fifth wheel, so she left early Wednesday morning. It was nice having her stay with us for a few days and hope to see here again.

Penny even liked sitting on Nancy's lap, which is unusually for her.

I finished my Y seem quilt top, and it had so many Y seems that I don't know if I would try it another time. The five mitered borders even had a Y seam at each corner.

I still like the finished quilt although I'm not sure how I will quilt it. I'll probably do something fancy.

We also went to our neighbors 60th wedding anniversary party, a long with 70 of there friends from here in Yuma. Their three daughters also came in from Canada. It was a nice party, for a nice couple. He is the one that completely remodeled their house across from ours, here in the Park.
