Apples, Pears, And Peaches Oh My

Riverton, Utah           High 82 Low 54

The weather cooled off and got cold at night, then warmed back up some.

This year I was diligent with spraying the fruit trees and did it ever pay off. We got way more fruit than we could possibly use. We have been busy canning all the different fruits. Now everything is finished but the apples. We even went to two different neighbors and got nectarines. Cindy says we are gluttons for punishment. Not to mention all the apricots and cherries we did earlier.

The pears took a while to ripen, but are now bottled up, along with the nectarines in the box next to them. Apples are more stable and will keep for longer so they got put till last.

This is still a lot of apples, and we got lots of peaches, and even went to another house and picked a lot of them.

One of the neighbors enters a Halloween contest every year and she has her yard all decorated already. They added a lot of movement this year.

There are some other neighbors that decorate for Halloween, but haven't got them finished yet.

From Halloween to Christmas: We went to Costco today and it isn't even the first of October yet, but you would think it was December, they are already selling Christmas stuff, lots of it.

Thanks for visiting.

Small Quilt Show

Riverton, Utah       High 83 Low 56

While it's a little warm during the day, It has been nice for sleeping at night.

We went to what turned out to be a small quilt show. I don't know if it was even advertised. We found out about it while shopping for batting at our favorite quilt store. From what we found out, the owner was the one pushing Riverton City to have the show. She had one made from minki in the show. Cindy thought the building the show was held in was kind of unique, so I took a picture of it.

I think the building is about 5 years old. There was some neat stained glass from the Old Dome Church. which I guess was in Riverton (I don't remember it).

The building is now a meeting hall for Riverton City.

The next picture is a over-view of the quilt show, which was on the second floor of the building. When we were there, we were the only ones viewing the quilt show.

There are quite a few pictures of the quilts. The pictures are of about half the quilts, so like I said, it was a small quilt show.

The next on is the one done by our friend. It is for the Riverton City High School. She made it and quilted it.

Cindy said she would like to make some of the quilts and yes, Nancy, they have lots of pieces.

We didn't know it, but Riverton City had a 9-11 display of flags. I didn't take any pictures of it, but they probably have as many flags as Sandy City.

We have been busy canning peaches, apples, and pears from our trees and have done a lot of batches.

Thanks for visiting.

Let's Not Forget

Riverton, Utah         High 82 Low 56

It was a really nice day, no wind and not too warm.

Sandy City has put up a display of US flags with the names of all the fallen at 9-11. It is quite impressive with all the flags. Almost 3000 flags are lined up in rows with tags telling a little about each name. There is also a section for Utah's K-9's that have died.

There is a large paw mark on the blue flags. Sorry I didn't get a better picture, but each flag had a card attached about each of the dogs. They were from all over Utah.

There were quite a few people there when we arrived. We thought it was a really nice memorial for all the fallen.

Thanks for visiting.

Bad Air and Of Course More Quilts

Riverton, Utah       High 81 Low 61

Right now it is a little windy and the weather guessers are predicting a little rain. Last Tuesday we had lots of wind from the North which brought in smoke from Oregon and Canada. The air quality index, which normally is 35 to 40, Got up to over 150. I took a picture of what normally would be a view of the mountains.

All we could see was smoke. The mountains to the west, which are much closer, also weren't visible.

Thursday the wind changed direction, and we have a clear view of the mountains. This picture is enlarged, but is in the exact same place, and you can sure see the difference.

I spent some time working on the gravel in our front yard. I finished the part by our home and all I have left is a little side yard, which will happen next week.

I had one of my customers bring 3 quilts to finish. They are all over, with 2 of them using variegated thread.

I have one more of Cindy's to quilt. It is going to take a while because it is a panel and won't be edge to edge.

Thanks for visiting.
