Happy New Year

Yuma, Arizona        High 69 Low 48

When we got going this morning, we had something I haven't seen often in Yuma, fog. It lasted until mid-morning and the day was a little chilly.

Our neighbor that is remodeling his home got back late Thursday night and I spent some time helping him today.

Last evening we went to the neighbors for Happy Hour. There were 6 couples. everyone brought snacks and we hung out for about an hour and a half before it broke up.

Cindy has been busy making more quilts.

Late this afternoon I took Penny to the small dog park for Yappy Hour. There were only 10 small dogs there but they seemed to be having fun, chasing balls and each other.

We don't have anything planned this evening except watching TV.

I wish all of you to have a Happy New Year!

Thanks for visiting.

Merry Christmas A Little Late

Yuma, Arizona        High 78 Low 50

The last two days have been warm. It is a nice change from the cooler weather we had last week.

For Christmas eve, we were invited to one of our neighbor's for brunch. There were probably 2 dozen people there and she had more than enough food for everyone. She likes to cook.

Yesterday was Christmas and we got to sleep in. We had already got our presents from each other.

About all we did was to invite two of our friends over for key lime pie last evening. It was from Marie Callender's and was really good. We had lot of left-overs from brunch that was sent home with us, so we ate really well for breakfast and lunch.

For fun, I took a picture of one of Penny's food packets just to show how well our spoiled little girl gets to eat. She is certainly the Queen of the Roost.

I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.

Thanks for visiting.

More Quilts and Santa

Yuma, Arizona         High 65 Low 40

This morning started out rather cold. We had a wind that made it even feel cooler.

As I said last time, Cindy has been busy quilting. She finished two more quilts. One had some witches, which she embroidered.

The first one, with the eagle and flag, is a panel which she found at an estate sale.

Penny got a Christmas present from her friend Izzy. It is two dog biscuits.

Last night Santa came to our Park for all the dogs (and cats) to have their picture taken with Santa. Penny got her picture taken with her Santa jacket and hat. Se also got her picture taken with her friend Izzy and Santa. Penny likes Izzy.

There were probably 50 dogs there to have their picture taken.

Thanks for visiting.

We Have Been Busy

Yuma, Arizona           High 66 Low 46

It has been cooler than usual lately. At least I don't remember it being this cold here in the past.

My neighbor, who is quite the handyman, decided to replace all his cabinets and flooring. He took out the kitchen and bath cabinets, linoleum and carpet and had tile installed in all the house. While he was at it, he tore out all the baseboards and repainted the whole house. I helped him with the tear-out. after the painting, he installed the cabinets and I and some other neighbors help him with that project. It took us more than a week.

Cindy has been busy quilting (as usual). I am having trouble downloading pictures, so sorry I won't have pictures today.

In between helping install cabinets and removing baseboard, I have been sifting sand out of our rock landscaping. I sifted out almost 20 gallons of sand and still am not through.

Today we drove to Phoenix to deliver some Christmas gifts to Cindy's son Scott.

While we were there we visited a store that has produce at fantastic prices (for instance, lettuce for $.50 per head).

Thanks for visiting.

Time For An Update

Yuma, Arizona          High 69 Low 54

We have had fairly nice weather. Yesterday it rained lightly all day.

One more picture from Thanksgiving. It shows most of the people that came to our home for diner. They are friends from the Park.

Cindy has been busy making quilts. We have been here three weeks and she has finished four quilts. She still likes quilts with lots of pieces. I don't know how many pieces these two quilt have, but there are a lot. And Nancy, We went to two different yard and estate sales and found some fabric. I guess you can never have too much fabric.

This Christmas quilt, we had enough fabric to make the back. The next one Cindy actually made two identical quilts. The kits were some of the stuff she bought at the estate sale.

We got some pictures of some of the decorations in the Park. There are more.

The second house has over two dozen snowmen, I think I counted 28.

Friday evening we went to a tree lighting in the park. It is the same set-up as last year with computer driven lights and songs. Every couple brought cookies or goodies, so there were lots to choose from. They also served hot chocolate. The get together lasted about an hour and a half.

I have been playing shuffleboard three mornings a week. I enjoy it.

Thanks for visiting.
