Gasport, New York High 79 Low 54
It rained most of the night and was cool, which was just
right for sleeping. This morning we woke up to a nice day that started partly
cloudy, but soon there were no clouds.
We decided that since it was a nice day, we would go see
Niagara Falls. We went to the American side which doesn’t have as good a view
of Horseshoe Falls as Canada, but we had already been to the Canadian side and
wanted to see it from this side.
There are some nice walking trails, where you can see the
rapids before the Falls, so it was worthwhile.
This is in Canada. |
I liked the 2 story bus I could see in Canada. |
Monument to New York soldiers that died in the Civil War. |
There is a pedestrian walk over Rainbow Bridge that lets you
walk to Canada. The views in my estimation are even better than if you are in
Canada. We could see both Falls at the same time. We could also see the boats
from both countries going to the base of the falls. The USA all wore blue rain
coats and the Canadian all wore red rain coats. We could see a lot of people in
the lines to go on the two boats. We had already done that once and decided not
to this time.
Some of the picture look foggy, but it is all the mist from
the Falls.
We walked almost to the end of the bridge before going back.
We had to go through customs, but it was very easy as long as we had our
passports. We weren’t asked any questions by the agent because we walked and he
could see all we had were our cameras.
On the way back to the RV Park, we stopped at the remaining
locks on the Erie Canal.
We
looked at the old building that the sign said was the City hall at one time.
The ceiling has the old tin tiles. It was worth a short visit.
This is a little different than now. We can't be broke, -------------- let's just print some more money
Cindy also got a picture of the lane leading into the RV
Park. We are about ½ mile from the highway.
Thanks for visiting.
Nice:) You are in the area I grew up in. The main house on our farm was built with stones from the building of the Erie Canal.
ReplyDeleteYou got some great pictures of the falls. I've taken the boat ride twice many many years apart so it was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteDo you feel like you're being followed?? We will be going through Wisconsin and around Lake Michigan this week ... headed your direction!!
ReplyDeleteAll the times I've been to Niagara Falls, (used to live about 250 miles away) I never walked across the bridge. Now you've given me a reason to go back.
