Made It To Rome
Parish, New York High 75 Low 52
I wish it was to Rome Italy, but only to Rome New York. We
went to the Heritage Museum and learned about the history of Rome.
This reminded us of some of the churches in Italy. |
An old church on the way to Rome. |
They had many exhibits and displays. They had an old Piano that
was kind of neat. Sorry I don’t remember when it was built.
Model of old ship and some musical instruments. |
They also had a hurdy-gurdy that I don’t remember ever
having seen before. It was a different looking string instrument.
Cindy had never seen a Jew’s harp before, and I don’t think
I've ever seen one quite like it.
One display that caught both our eyes was milk bottles and
photos of the milk being delivered by horse drawn wagon.
This shows some of the fashions of the early 20th century. The next picture shows some of the handbags from the same era.
Another display had some of the different phones that were
made, from one of the old operator assisted phones through cell phone. Maybe
this shows how old I am, but I remember having a party line when I was a kid.
How things have changed.
An old drum.
They also told about Paul Revere and how he started a
company in 1801 that kept merging and growing bigger and finally had its largest
division in Rome, New York. Rome became one of the largest manufacturers of
copper wire and pipe in the US.
This shows the Erie canal.
Thanks for visiting.
We were in Rome, Georgia a last week and no matter how hard I tried, it just wasn't like Rome, Italy.
