Penny Had Fun at the Beach

Randle, Washington         High 61 Low 50

Today we left Ilwaco and drove to Randle. We are near Mt. Saint Helen and Mt. Rainier. We plan on driving to nearby places where we can see the mountains. Hopefully there are Visitor Centers.

Monday we went to the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center at Cape Disappointment. Cape Disappointment was so named because when it was discovered, the explorers thought that they had found the Northwest Passage and we later disappointed in that it was just the Columbia River and not a seaway to the Atlantic.

This light house didn't look like it was as well taken care of as the ones in Oregon.

One of the view points.
We were able to see one of the lighthouses at Cape Disappointment. Cindy wasn’t able to walk to it, so we just went to a viewing area.

Tuesday the Row by Row started at all the quilt stores and we went to get the free patterns. First we went to the store at Long Beach. Then we went to the two stores in Astoria.

We got to see a lot of old houses in Astoria and Cindy got some pictures of some of them.

Very steep, narrow roads in Astoria.

After Astoria, we drove to the beach at Seaview to let Penny run around. She has a lot of fun running and rolling in the sand. The problem was the sand was a little wet and she got very dirty. So after playing in the sand it was bath time for her.
Penny had to check out the stuck car.

She had so much fun on Tuesday that we decided to take her up to Long Beach on Wednesday. Again she ran around checking everything our and rolled in the sand again. So when we got back to the trailer, it was bath time again for her. She seems to be more relaxed with the bathes than she has been in the past.
There are lots of murals in Long Beach and Ilwaco.

We were told that one of these is built monthly. It is in the middle of Long Beach.
Last night it rained a lot of the night and we had rain most of the way to Randle. It is about a four hour drive for us pulling the fifth wheel. We are currently at the Maple Grove RV Resort. It is a nice park, but the backs in sites are a little narrow although wider than the last ones. We were able to get site 1 which doesn’t have doesn’t have anyone on our right side and it gives us a lot of grass on our door side. We think we got the best site in the Park.

There is lots going on in the Park on the weekends and it has a nice Club House. The Lady at the office is very helpful and I would recommend this Park.

Thanks for visiting.
