Today we drove from Whitehorse to a small town on the Cassiar
Highway. It is located about 75 miles from the Alaska Highway. The Alaska
Highway from Whitehorse to where we turned down the Cassiar was in excellent
condition.
We didn't see any animals today, but saw lots of beautiful
lakes and streams. When we went to Alaska, it was still wintry with no leaves
on the trees. Now all the leaves are out and the side of the road has green
grass and plants along it. We followed alongside some very large lakes. The day
was sunny and nice and the scenery was beautiful.
I missed the turn off to the Cassiar, and had to find a
place to turn around. The road for the first 50 miles or so is very narrow and
rough. There was also a fire in 2010, so it wasn't very pretty. We couldn't go
very fast and it took almost 2 hours to go the fifty miles. After that we were
able to go faster as the road improved immensely.
Cindy wanted to go to Jade City and look at the jade pieces
in the store. They also offered free RV parking, so we are in their large
parking lot for the night.
Cindy just looked at the things in the store and wasn't
going to buy anything, so I decided to buy her some jade earrings. They look
like small flowers and I thought they were pretty.
The store told me they had internet, but it isn't working
right now, so I don’t know when I’ll get to post this blog. I'm able to post, but the pictures are taking so long that I will have to post them at a later date.
We are not sure what we will be doing tomorrow, so we will
have to wait and see. Thanks for visiting.
