Lakewood, New Mexico
High 90 Low 55
When we left Tijeras this morning, the truck read 53
degrees. As we drove south toward Lakewood, the temperature kept getting hotter
and hotter. We are 3000 feet lower than we were at Tijeras. We have had the Air
Conditioning going since we got here, but it is starting to cool down some outside.
Our drive took us through Roswell and we wanted to stop at
the visitor center, but there were signs that said no trucks on Main Street
beyond a certain spot, so we took the truck bi-pass. We did get to see a few
alien pictures and statues. Cindy wasn’t able to get any pictures, maybe
another time.
We got to The Ranch, an SKP co-op Park. Our first time here
we get to stay for a week for $50.00 plus electrical. It looks like a nice
enough Park, but is right next to the middle of nowhere. All the sites are huge
with 50 amp power at each site.
In addition they have strong, fast internet throughout the
Park. All the people seem friendly enough and they have a large bell they ring
whenever a visitor checks in.
Every afternoon there is a Happy Hour. It is different from
the Boomers Happy Hour in that there is no food (awe shucks).
We plan on visiting Carlsbad Caverns and probably some quilt
shops in the town of Carlsbad. We hope the bats are still flying each night and
hope to be able to see them leave the Cave.
We have been told that there is a lot to see around here,
but that we may have to drive a little way to the sights.
Thanks for visiting.
