It has been quite warm here for a while. We did get a little rain one evening, but not enough to do any good. It also has been cloudy a few days with some wind.
Cindy decided she want to harvest grapes this year, and in order to get any, I have to completely enclose the grape arbor with bird net. This involves putting up a pvc fence around the arbor and attaching the net to it. It has been so hot, I can only work on it mornings.
There is a walk-way through here that the plants have completely covered.
The picture above is cantaloupe, the one below is a pepper. Cindy's plants really like the raised planter boxes (and the good soil we put in them).
Cindy's garden is really doing well. We have had squash, zucchini, green beans and some cherry tomatoes. There are lots of green tomatoes, but only a few ripe ones.
We had a decent apricot crop, but the birds probably got almost half of them, so that is why the net around the grapes.
Thanks for visiting.
Cindy is really becoming a true gardener. Everything looks so fresh and beautiful. And I'm glad she has you to help protect that garden.
ReplyDeleteIf using the netting now works out, it would be wise to set it up in the spring as soon as you get home. Leaving it erected during the winter would only destroy the framing.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see the garden paying off.
Stay Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Wow ... the garden really took off!! I guess I will put "planters" on my Christmas wish list. I definitely do better with them than planting things in the ground. Oh how I remember those apricots! Yummy!!
