My Brother and Sister-in-law Come to Visit

Yuma, Arizona              High 69 Low 45

The weather has been cooler for the last few days. but is still pleasant during the afternoon.

My brother, Glade, who recently retired has been traveling with some friends in their RV's. They recently spent some time in Quartzsite and then came to Yuma for a little while. Next they go to Tucson for a week and then come back to Yuma.

They made a visit to see us, but first we had to get Shrimp Taco's (sorry you missed out Nancy). It was their first time to have them, but thought they were very good. The people they travel with had been here before, and as it turned out, they wanted to go to the very place we would have taken them. They have been  coming to Yuma for 20 years and say they are the best in the area.

Glade and ReNae then followed us to see our home. We sat around for a while and then decided to take them to see the City Of Yuma airplane at the Yuma  City Hall. Late in 1949 Yuma was about to loose the Military base, which would have ruined Yuma's economy at that time. So the flight was to prove how good the flying and weather was in Yuma with an endurance flight. The plane stayed flying for 1124 hours (over 46 days) with the aid of a Buick chase car for refueling. The plane and car are on display at the Yuma City offices. We thought they might be interested. and they were. There is also the first Yuma fire truck on display.

Yesterday we went out to eat lunch at a Mexican restaurant That one of their friends liked. It was very good.

We will get to visit again when they come back week after next.

I am in our annual Shuffleboard Pin tournament starting tomorrow. I hope I do well.

Thanks for visiting.

Quick Trip to Phoenix

Yuma, Arizona            High 78 Low 46

The weather here finally got warm. It was almost 80 degrees yesterday.

We took a quick trip to Phoenix yesterday. First was to take some things to Cindy's son Scot.

We stay for a little while to visit with them and then we had an appointment with A lady at Mulqueen's Fabric in Mesa. Cindy wanted a larger hoop for her embroidery machine that requires an update to be able to use it. She updated the machine, but the hoop still didn't show up. When she checked, the hoop is supposed to be for a newer machine than Cindy's, so she still won't be able to use the new hoop. So when we get back to Utah, we have a hoop to return.

Sorry, I forgot to take any pictures.

We drove almost 400 miles yesterday, and by the time we got back we were both quite tired.

Thanks for visiting.

Nancy Left and We Went To The Quilt Show

Yuma, Arizona         High 72 Low

We have had cold winds and cooler temperatures for the last few days. The weather guessers are predicting warmer temperatures, which will be good.

Nancy's dog, Cooper, got sick and we took him to the vet, and she decided he would be better at home, so she decided to skip Quartzsite and go back to California. It was good to see her again. She had planned on going to the quilt show with us, but Coopers health is more important. We hope to see her next year.

We went to the annual Yuma Quilt Show and it was a good show this year. Be for warned, there are lots of pictures of quilts.

I liked this Twelve Days of Christmas, Southwest.

This quilt had small chains on each of the boots. We thought it was interesting.

There were lots of really nice quilts with lots of interesting quilting.

Cindy has been trying to get her embroidery machine going. We bought a new hoop that the machine does not recognize, so the machine will have to upgraded.

Thanks for visiting.

Happy New Year

Yuma, Arizona         High 73 Low 52

The  weather has been nice the last few days. A little windy, but warm.

On our way here, I saw one place that said 5 degrees. When we stopped at some of the rest stops, we were very cold because of very low temperatures and wind. It was nice to get where it is a bit warmer.

I hope everyone had a nice New Year.

The day after New Year, our friend, Nancy, came to spend time with us. She parked in our driveway, where she will stay for the next week.

Yesterday we went to the Arizona market to show Nancy the remodeled quilt store. Cindy has said she was not buying any more fabric, but one piece on sale caught her eye, so she made it clear to January 3rd, before she found some she had to have.

We then went to the other quilt store that used to have lots of southwestern fabric. They also have changed owners and now have very limited southwest fabric, but Nancy still found another one she had to have some of.

So they both made it clear to January 3rd before buying more fabric.

I guess, like they say, you can't have too much fabric.

Thanks for visiting.
